Ace
A legal serve that lands cleanly in the service box and is untouched by the receiving player, resulting in an immediate point.
Advantage
The point won by a player following a 40–40 (Deuce) tie; winning the next point secures the game.
Bagel
Colloquial term for winning a set with a 6–0 scoreline.
Break Point
A situation where the receiving player requires one point to win the game against the server's delivery.
Deuce
A tie score of 40–40 within a game, requiring one player to win two consecutive points (Advantage and Game) to win the game.
Double Fault
Failing to land both the first and second serves legally into the diagonal service box, conceding the point to the opponent.
Let
A call made when a serve touches the net cord but lands in the correct service box (requiring a replay), or when play is interrupted by external interference.
Sweet Spot
The central area of the tennis racket stringbed that produces maximum power transfer and minimum vibration upon ball impact.
Tiebreak
A specialized scoring game played at 6–6 in sets to decide the winner; standard 7-point tiebreak or 10-point super tiebreak in deciding Grand Slam sets.
